Welcoming Infrastructure Engineer, Marco Ieni to the Rust Foundation Team

We are pleased to announce that Marco Ieni has joined the Rust Foundation as the newest member of our engineering team!

The Rust Foundation is pleased to announce the newest addition to the engineering team — Infrastructure Engineer, Marco leni.

Marco started his career as an Embedded System Engineer. Since 2020, he has worked as a Rust Backend Engineer, building microservices with high performance requirements. During his spare time, he maintains release-plz and hosts the RustShip podcast.

Marco joins the Rust Foundation as its second Infrastructure Engineer, providing much-needed support to the Rust project and its infrastructure. As a member of the engineering team, Marco will ensure that the infrastructure supporting Rust and related projects is reliable, efficient, productive, and secure. He will be responsible for the operations of all current and future infrastructure, managing existing tools and new developments while working directly with the Rust Project Infrastructure team in their daily activities.

About Rust and his new role at the Rust Foundation, Marco says:

“I discovered Rust in 2019 and since then I have tried to help the community through talks, workshops, blog posts, open-source projects, mentoring, and a podcast.I'm thrilled to be joining the Rust Foundation as an Infrastructure Engineer as it allows me to contribute to Rust full-time.”
